Dr Mehreen Khaleel

Mehreen has a PhD from the Center for Ecological Sciences, Indian Institute of Science-Bangalore. During her PhD, she has tried to understand the ecology and have assessed the current distribution of Himalayan gray langur in Kashmir valley. In 2018, founded the Wildlife Research and Conservation Foundation, whose goal is to contribute to the conservation of unique wildlife by involving local communities. Her personal interests are in educating the common masses about the unique biodiversity of Kashmir Himalaya.

Suriya Sartaj
Coordinator - Outreach and Education
Suriya Sartaj is pursuing Veterinary medicine from KVASU, Kerala. She has a passion for wildlife and her professional degree has helped her contribute to its conservation. Her profession has provided ample opportunities to understand nature in it's closest proximity. She is a compassionate animal rescuer and has used her knowledge to save many lives. She is a volunteer at Society of Odonate Studies (SOS), and a member of International Veterinary Students’ Association, Pookode chapter.
Qazi Hammad Mueen

Qazi Hammad is currently a Biology undergraduate student at Middle East Technical University, Turkey. He has been associated with wildlife and conservation in Kashmir from quite a young age and hopes to work towards the same in the future. He is also an amateur photographer and birder and has a penchant for travelling and adventure activities.

Jafar is currently pursuing his post graduation in Kashmiri literature from the University of Kashmir. He is also working as an announcer and presenter at All India Radio Srinagar station. His affiliation to wildlife and conservation is because of his interests in birds. He has been a part of many wildlife rescue operations and has inspired many young minds in his village. Jafar has been with WRCF since the beginning and has been a very active member in various outreach programs. As per Jafar, wildlife conservation is a need of the hour in Kashmir and he would dedicate himself and will be working for that to every extent possible.
Shams ul Haq Qari
Member- Research and Monitoring
Shams is a cinematographer and photographer based in New Delhi. Having a keen interest in nature and wildlife, the initial years of his career were spent photographing and understanding the fauna and landscape of Kashmir. With an academic qualification in multimedia and journalism, he is currently working as a cinematographer at Twogether Studios. His interests include long motorcycle journeys, but also the history of Asia and the Middle East. Gardening is his love and he makes his own coffee.

Madiha is a bachelor’s student in Forestry at SKUAST-K. She takes pleasure in listening to ghazals and old Hindi songs. She has been writing poetry mostly in Urdu and sometimes in English as well. She likes to take pictures with her mobile phone camera and it is photography that has enriched her perspective and made a keen observer. When not writing, she spends her time in nature, feeling a connection with trees, soothing her mind. Madiha, considers conservation as the purest form of love and thinks that one should never miss a chance to come forward to protect nature.
